Here’s a practical quick tip for you:
If a certain situation repeatedly causes you anxiety - like driving on the highway for instance - try this…
When you notice the thoughts rushing in that ramp up the feeling of anxiety, have a sentence on hand that you can repeat: I’m safe. I’m protected. I’m a good driver.
Play around with a sentence that feels true, grounding, and affirming. Do this part before you’re freaking out.
Also, or alternatively: visualize your car (in this example) surrounded by a protective white light. You may want this white light to pulse like a strobe light so that other drivers see it. This light is a forcefield that will protect you - Violet style…from The Incredibles!
Rather than focusing on the intrusive thoughts, focus on building and seeing this force field around you.
It works for me! Play around with it and let me know how it works for you. If you’d like 1:1 help with it, you can schedule a coaching session here!
